Integrated into an interdisciplinary programme bringing together researchers and creators from diverse fields — from ocean sciences to philosophy, including the arts — this cultural moment aims to reinforce the initiative’s central message: the profound connection between humans and the Ocean as an essential component of the living system that is planet Earth.

The WeOcean Concert will feature a range of artists, combining musical and poetic expressions, including Yasmin (fado singer) and Aníbal Vinhas (guitar), Sofia Correia and Sarah Greenwood (poetry), Nelson Conceição (accordion) and Cristina Paulo (vocals), as well as the Coral Ossónoba (choir).

More than a performance, this concert offers a collective and immersive experience, inviting the audience to reflect on our belonging to a broader living system and on the role of the Ocean in sustaining life on the planet.

Participation is free, subject to venue capacity.

The WeOcean workshop, supported by the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU), CCMAR, Euromarine and other international partners, will take place from 4 to 6 May. It results from a collaborative international effort promoting dialogue between science, critical thinking and artistic expression, with the aim of rethinking contemporary environmental and social challenges.
