CITA - Food Innovation and Technology Centre (FITC)

 FITC - Food Innovation and Technology Centre, which is located in the premises of the Department of Food Engineering, of Higher Institute of Engineering of the University of Algarve, offers services to companies interested in selling new products or improving the production efficiency of existing ones, using the laboratory facilities of: Processing and Development of New Products, Rheology and Packaging, Functional Foods/Nutraceuticals, Food Safety and Oenology in the following areas:

  • Product development from pilot scale to industrial scale for commercial application
  • Determination of consumer appreciation of a product through sensory analysis
  • Scale-up of regional recipes for commercial application
  • Packaging development to maximize shelf life and product aesthetics
  • Determination of shelf life for food products
